Hi,

I just bought the Leica thumb grip recently and it is a game changer. I can hold it with confidence using one hand while shooting.

It made the experience a lot better in my opinion. I was looking for a half case initially but with the thumb grip, i think I don't need it anymore

I found no need for extra battery, Mine lasts a whole day of shooting. Straps are for aesthetic, I used the one that came in the box with no problem.

Never felt the need for a thumb rest. The only accessory I have is a wrist strap - for security, not for swinging the camera from.

Between the SL2-S and Q2 I have five batteries - I had three for the SL>SL2>SL2-S, one came with the Q2, and I bought another one when I miscounted what I already had. I don't think I've ever needed to change the Q2 battery inside a day.

I have various bags that get shared out among my various cameras - none dedicated to the Q2, which happens to be occupying a Fogg Soprano at the moment.

On my Q2M I have a screen protector, Leica thumb grip, Leica grip, yellow B+W filter and Gordy wrist strap. Very happy. I would say the camera grip isn’t necessary because the camera is so light but it protects the bottom of the camera from scrapes and while not water resistant will keep the battery and sd card compartments safe.

Gordy wrist strap.

How do you use this? I used them with the ricoh GR, but, to me the Q is just too big. Sometimes I want both hands to be free and with a wrist strap I can’t… therefore my cameras are all shoulder straps…

When I am not shooting I keep the Q in a camera bag. I have it on my wrist when I am in “hunt mode” for street shots. I do the same with all my other cameras but I can hold the Q all day with the grips attached due to the light weight. Also if I travel with two cameras usually the Q2M and the M10M or a film MP I would already have that other camera around my neck.

The Leica Q Holster looks metro hip. Back in the late 70’s in urban America leather male purses inspired by gun holsters were all the rage. The Leica Q Holster looks exactly like it. But then I would need to also buy the expensive finger loop to fully utilise it.

I prefer for my cameras: A big microfiber camera pouch where to wrap it in and transport it in whatever backpack or bag, no specific camera bag needed. I normally use a neutral messenger bag w/o padding. UV or clear filter (B+H), leather half case (Leica), screen protector, a spare battery and a spare SD card (just backup). That's my setup.

The finger loop or thumb rest are not for me, although having small hands, the half case has enough grip. You can also wrap the thin strap around your wrist if you want to carry the camera in one hand. Not possible with a broader or a roap style one.
