stunsworth Posted November 5, 2007 Share #61 Posted November 5, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Ah, that explains the price <grin>. The battery takes ages to charge. If you haven't done so already you might like to consider buying a second one. I get about 350-400 images from a charge - that's shooting RAW and not chimping. Advertisement Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 Hi stunsworth, Take a look here Should I buy an M8. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
fefe Posted November 5, 2007 Share #62 Posted November 5, 2007 If your M8 is new you can probably prepare yourself for a sensor cleaning session once the battery is charged, it seems the shutter is spilling oil on most sensors for the first few hundred shots . Congratulations.
JumpStart Posted November 5, 2007 Share #63 Posted November 5, 2007 I only got my M8 on Friday. I had ordered one earlier in the year, and cancelled it. I finally decided to do it, and I am pleased so far. I am concerned about the comment above this post regarding oil on my sensor. I made a point of installing my lens immediately so as to minimize any dust entering the sensor area. Do I really have to check for oil? DBK
ChrisC Posted November 5, 2007 Share #64 Posted November 5, 2007 Do I really have to check for oil? Oh yes. .............. Chris
stunsworth Posted November 5, 2007 Share #65 Posted November 5, 2007 Do I really have to check for oil? It depends on the camera. I've had no problems other than dust with mine, and those have all been sorted with a blower, or artic butterfly.
SJP Posted November 5, 2007 Share #66 Posted November 5, 2007 Oh yes. .............. Chris YES it needs a refill every 500 miles or so - like a Ferrari
JumpStart Posted November 5, 2007 Share #67 Posted November 5, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) So how do I do this. I know how to clean sensors, but I really don't want to touch the sensor if I don't have to. What's it look like? DBK
Thomasru Posted November 6, 2007 Share #68 Posted November 6, 2007 Nice one. He is a great "lad", especially when parting a man from his money Seriously, you couldn't hope to find a better dealer. He's the man that sold me my first Leica - my bank manager hasn't looked back since. Hi Andy The shop must have changed then, I stopped going in years ago as they let me down so many times by not supplying items (leica) I wanted. It was just small ones I admit like a case and grip but i wanted new ones got them in 3 days from Classic Camera. Of course I didn't go to Stephens when I wanted to buy my 90mm 35mm 28mm or 135mm lens. So I'm not sure I'll go for a M8(when I saved up) TomR
