robsteve Posted October 28, 2007 Share #1 Posted October 28, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Today I went with a friend to shoot a University soccer game. Of the two cards full of missed shots and out of focus shots, I think these were the best. I didn't realize the grid screen was in the the DMR and it made focusing difficult. The field was in partial shade on one end. I think the pictures with the low evening sun really stood out the most. This was taken with the 400mm f2.8 at f4. Quite a crop too, as they were at the opposite end. These next two were taken with an old 180mm f3.4 APO. In this one, also with the 180mm, the sun was behind a cloud. I warmed it up a bit in processing so it didn't look so out of place with the other two pictures.

jmr Posted October 29, 2007 Share #4 Posted October 29, 2007 Rob, nicely done - 9 and 14 seem to be giving the goalie a hard time
robsteve Posted October 29, 2007 Author Share #5 Posted October 29, 2007 Rob, nicely done - 9 and 14 seem to be giving the goalie a hard time The goalie wasn't doing very well. I think they changed the goalie for the second half. The team in burgundy won with a score of 3-0. Robert
robsteve Posted October 31, 2007 Author Share #6 Posted October 31, 2007 Here are a couple more from the same game. The University installed a new artificial turf a few years ago that is a long synthetic grass filled with ground rubber. When the players are moving fast, this rubber flies into the air. The turf also smells like old car tires because of this rubber fill. It is probably recycled tires ground up.
