Adam Bonn Posted February 22, 2023 Share #21 Posted February 22, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Agree in principle but sadly I doubt that’s a robust business model…. Maybe more of use need to buy SLs etc so that the M remains unburdened with being the famous product that attracts all of the attention
Advertisement Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 Hi Adam Bonn, Take a look here Long-term review: The new Leica M10-R. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Nimar Posted February 22, 2023 Share #22 Posted February 22, 2023 For what it’s worth my m10-r arrived today. It’s a delight and feels exactly like my m6 used to. Q2 is being sold tomorrow, it’s a delightful camera but an EVF isn’t for me.

Kiwimac Posted February 23, 2023 Share #24 Posted February 23, 2023 (edited) I feel quite fortunate to have bought the last BNIB M10-R that was in stock in NZ. I do wish I had been a bit more awake and got the BP version when it was available but BC will have to do. Are there things in the M11 I would like? Sure. The electronic shutter would be handy. The better battery life (although with two batteries the 10-R is perfectly workable), the stabilisation when using LV. I do not regard them as essential. I added a Kamerakraft grip which gives the M10-R an opening battery door without removing the base plate and an Arca Swiss rail built in. It's brilliantly made and highly recommended. The black finish matches the camera perfectly as well. An M11-P in Black Paint might tempt me but even then I am not sure. If I could wave a magic wand and make one improvement to all M cameras overnight, I would double the size of the RF patch somehow. Snipe10 Posted February 23, 2023 Share #25 Posted February 23, 2023 Excited to own a M10-R BP, stumbled upon a deal I couldn't refuse a month ago, now I just need to get a lens, in the meantime, I use my Q2M.

Join the club. Congrats. Although I bought this one brand new so, I’m owner 1. And I’ll be the only owner ever 😀 Welcome, dear visitor! M Street Photographer Posted February 23, 2023 Share #27 Posted February 23, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Sometimes street photography is not so easy as people's reaction is sometimes unfriendly due to the element of surprise. I haven't witnessed aggressive altercations as I always have a good story as to why they were photographed. First you get my business card, which looks more serious. If you ask, I can also send you the photo by e-mail. The second point is my age, as a young pensioner I also seem more serious and they are not afraid that the photo will be uploaded to 5 social media immediately, like with a cell phone. But I get the most respect when you look at my camera, see the red dot and say: Oh, you're shooting with a Leica, is it still analogue? For this reason I am satisfied that my M10R BC has the red, recognizable, Leica dot.😄

I haven’t come across one person ever who knows anything about cameras (let alone know what a Leica is). The most I’ve gotten, from people I know, is “is that a film camera?”. From all other 99% of people I pretty much get ignored… good. The only camera I’ve ever had that anyone ever stepped up to me and said something was a guy at a pier who said “oh XPro?” When I had the XPro3. And that’s about it. Oh yea. In 2008 when I was visiting my mom. We were taking a tour and someone recognized my XT2. Fujis are really popular I guess. Those were opposite sides of the world. M Street Photographer Posted February 23, 2023 Share #29 Posted February 23, 2023 Leica has a 99% brand awareness here based on the emblem and history. Maybe that's a special feature in Germany, but the red dot and the Leica lettering are clearly noticeable. Remember that Leica is a German company that is over 120 years old and not just about photography. Known for high quality, which has its price. It may also depend on how far away you are from the person. With a 200 mm telephoto, the logo is probably less recognizable, from 1 - 2.5 m, which is my distance from the people, it cannot be overlooked. Incidentally, the same applies here to VW, Mercedes Benz, Porsche, BMW, traditional German companies that everyone here recognizes and knows.
Warton Posted February 23, 2023 Share #30 Posted February 23, 2023 I was attacked by GAS yesterday. I have had a M11 for a few months and when I saw a nice looking and used m10-r black paint at dealership, I couldn't resist it. I giggled for half an hour at the dealership, verified the shutter counter and finally gave up and paid it. Now I have to live with 2 Ms, one with shutter open upon turning on, the other doesn't. Sometimes I got confused and waited for that shutter sound when turning on the m10-r and I panicked when I didn't hear it. 2

I’ve had one person at my work. His eyes almost popped out of his head. Most people who know have never seen one in person. The ones who know are the photographers I run into. They look, they go like this 😳 and they keep walking. Normal people though. Nah. I had someone say, hey that camera is small. Is it expensive? 😀 I said, well, it’s not cheap! Most people I see on videos put tape all over their Leica’s. It’s so ugly. Is that little red dot actually distracting? I like the “P” aesthetic better without the dot. But I wouldn’t cover it with tape if I had it. 5 hours ago, Warton said: m10-r black paint Their best camera. 😁 I feel really lucky that this is my first and only Leica. The stars aligned and I could buy it. I couldn’t possibly afford 2. Well, maybe an M4-P for Film fun. I’m taking it to work today. I can’t stop talking photos. I’ve owned it just over a year now. When it came time to buy the store had 1 regular black and he just happened to have a black paint. Both brand new. So I said ah. Screw it. I’m already spending $8,000 what’s another $1,000. I Don’t regret it. The black paint though is tough. It’s not going to brass any time soon. It kind of started. Slowly. A tiny bit in the back My only other splurge would be a Leica 28mm. I want to rid of the Voigtlander that I have left and have 2 Leica lenses. Still deciding Elmarit, Summicron or Summaron. The classic debate. It was bought new by a guy in HK around May 2021, the shutter count was about ~800 and he traded in around Nov 2022. There are a couple of very small and shallow dings on the baseplate. So I negotiated it down to $6500 with an extra battery. So far I am happy with it. I just need to get used to it for a bit since I have used my M11 for more than 3 months with more than 4000 shots. A lovely camera indeed. Enjoy. The extra battery is 100% necessary but they’re small so I just put one in my pocket. Happy brassing. Edited February 23, 2023 by Leitz. M Street Photographer Posted February 24, 2023 Share #37 Posted February 24, 2023 I also have the BC since August 2022, but the color has not come off so far. Maybe I sweat less 😄 when I have them in my hand. If someone is interested in brass, then use some sandpaper or a wire brush and rub away cheerfully. 😁 I don't do that, if it gets a patina over time that's fine, if not, then not. There were the Lenny Kravitz cameras or his "enhancement" Lenni Kravits Edition

Adam Bonn Posted February 24, 2023 Share #40 Posted February 24, 2023 My M9-P (black with Leica in white script on the top plate) get's noticed a whole lot more than any black M but with a red dot I've ever had. One time an X-Pro shooter (I used to have both XP1 and 2) approached me in a cafe and asked about the M and what it was like to use then asked me if he could make a photo using mine (which I obliged)
