And that I would consider a 28 'cron over a lux. And then some suggestions on longer lenses. I think we can be done now.
RexGig0 Posted February 19, 2023 Share #24  Posted February 19, 2023 Logically, it makes sense to add the 28mm, and then the 35mm, to meet the 50/35/28 goal. Personally, however, I rarely use a 28mm lens, because I actually use 35mm and 50mm, most of the time. I do NOT consider 35mm and 50mm to be anywhere close to being similar focal lengths; they are quite far apart, in my eyes. One consideration is that mobile communication devices usually have lenses the provide a field-of-view that is 26mm to 28mm equivalent. One’s mobile phone can serve as a field-expedient 28mm lens, which reduces the urgency of buying a 28mm lens. For reference, I do have a Summilux-M 50mm ASPH lens. It was my first M-mount lens, the major reason that I added the Leica M system. I also do have a 35mm f/1.4 M-mount lens, though it is Zeiss Distagon ZM. My 28mm Leica lenses are slower, Elmarit-M f/2.8 and Summaron f/5.6. A 28mm Summilux or Summicron does not seem important, thus far.
robsonj Posted February 19, 2023 Share #25 Â Posted February 19, 2023 28mm next, but go with the summicron. Fantastic lens, and you then keep the same 46mm filter size as the 50 & 35 lux, and the 21mm sem if you venture that wide one day

The 28 Lux is an incredible piece of glass if you can swing it? get it. Â I find mine fantastic to use. I thought about selling it and picking up a Summicron but just could not part with it and it does not feel odd on the M11Â

If one goes to print, that 'field expedient' 28 shot is worthless, esp. if trying to produce a cohesive body of work.
