Snowman Posted February 18, 2023 Share #1 Posted February 18, 2023 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello been using my Leica Q2 from new from around August 2021 and I notice a dust spec on the viewfinder. it’s not on the sensor and all images are fine, but too me it’s a bit annoying as it’s near centre when viewing the finder. I think it’s on the inside glass of we’re you place the eye. A couple of questions please. 1. would the dust spec removal be covered under my Leica q2 warranty? 2. Are there any hacks to maybe removing the spec? many thanks Nick, uk Edited February 18, 2023 by Snowman

dpitt Posted February 19, 2023 Share #2 Posted February 19, 2023 Email Leica service. Depending on the size of the dust spec I would consider this a 'defect' for a new Leica camera. You can demand perfection for the amount of budget spent.

If the dust spec is new this would not be considered a defect.

In the past I have been offered free cleaning service for Leica camera's even out of warranty like my Digilux2. There is a possibility they will accept to do it for free. Yes they may…Leica services in my opinion is top notch…my point was just that it wasn’t a defect in manufacture.
viramati Posted February 19, 2023 Share #6 Posted February 19, 2023 (edited) I saw one in mine a few weeks ago (year and a half old with the extended warranty) and took it into Leica Mayfair who cleaned it in a 3 day turnaround. Luckily repairs to the Q are done in the UK and the camera doesn't have to be sent to Germany. So the answer is that you shouldn't have any problem getting it cleaned Edited February 19, 2023 by viramati
lucerne Posted February 19, 2023 Share #7 Posted February 19, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) leica UK (Mayfair) will collect, repair, and return your Q quickly. I had similar work done. I can't say whether it will be free or not. Mine was still within warranty. My model Q was an early one and not dustproof. On its return i sold it. Call them and allow them to make the collection arrangements. Good luck.
