smokin_ro Posted February 1, 2023 Share #1  Posted February 1, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello I just purchased the above lens hood second hand and it does not seem to fit on my tl35 lens properly - i.e. it is very loose. I have feeling that it may be missing some plastic thread on the inside of the lens, as there seems to be some residual glue in there. Would someone be able to please post a picture for me to compare with what I have? Thanks  Rohan
Advertisement Posted February 1, 2023 Posted February 1, 2023 Hi smokin_ro, Take a look here Leica tl35/60 lens hood (12429) issue. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
wda Posted February 1, 2023 Share #2  Posted February 1, 2023 It seems that you have received an incomplete item. Check with the vendor. The locking ring can detach but can be glued back into place. Reject the hood if the part is missing. It is useless if it will not lock into place.
LocalHero1953 Posted February 1, 2023 Share #3 Â Posted February 1, 2023 I agree. There are reports of such hoods coming apart. It sounds like you have half a hood!

cj3209 Posted February 2, 2023 Share #5  Posted February 2, 2023 These hoods are so cheaply made; I had to glue the hood on my 35 - on a $2K lens.  Wow.
wda Posted February 2, 2023 Share #6 Â Posted February 2, 2023 There is no need for Leica to accept such shoddy assembly of any goods they supply. Their reputation is at stake.
ruskkyle Posted February 4, 2023 Share #7 Â Posted February 4, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Mine came unstuck in my bag whilst attached in reverse to the lens. It took it into the Leica store Mayfair in London and the manager replaced it for free, no questions asked. I was pleasantly surprised!

Lucky you - I've been trying to give them £80 for one for ages🤨
Steven Lane Posted February 7, 2023 Share #9  Posted February 7, 2023 The hood for the 35/60 lenses are very poorly made. I use mine only occasionally and am careful with it. However, I am on my third one for my 35. I cannot believe that a lens as expensive as this is hobbled by an inferior hood. I have other brands that have been used for almost 40 years and are still as good as  new.
thatkatmat Posted February 17, 2023 Share #10 Â Posted February 17, 2023 (edited) Try to find a replacement part for them, just not available. So, shoddy build and no way to buy a new one anymore. Pretty lame but whatever, they're huge anyways. The CL 60mm pinch caps are unavailable as well. Usually, when I buy a used lens, I like to buy a spare hood and or cap. Too bad you can't with these 2 lenses. (35 & 60mm) Edited February 17, 2023 by thatkatmat
