Advertisement Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 Hi Harry Brink, Take a look here Elpro on Summicron 50 problem. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
TomB_tx Posted January 31, 2023 Share #2 Â Posted January 31, 2023 I believe the Elpro was made for the version 1 Summicron R, which had a built-in Series vi (6) filter holder, so the Elpro is designed to screw in to that. The "R" lenses were after the change to 55mm filters. While it might (I doubt it) be possible to find a 55mm to Series 6 filter adapter, I'm sure that would space the Elpro too far in front of the lens. I think Leica's solution was the Macro Elmarit 60mm f2.8 lens, which is very usable as a normal lens and close-up lens.
masjah Posted January 31, 2023 Share #3 Â Posted January 31, 2023 If I recall correctly, with the later E55 50mm lens, you need the Elpro 1 and Elpro 2 filters (not the earlier Series type. I used to use these, and they worked very well. I sold them when I bought the App Macro Elmarit 100/2.8.

Leica did offer an upgrade to e55 from series 6, but that expired a couple of decades ago.
