Before any flash not documented by Leica for your M11, one should always consider (check) the flash’s trigger voltage. Some flashes can have a trigger voltage that will fry modern digital M cameras.

Here’s a starting site to consider

I think this has been proven to be something of a bogeyman, as the M bodies supposedly can handle up to 600V protection, so it would have to be a really old or wonky flash (but I could be wrong). Canons though just aren't the best choice for M's I believe as the pin arrangement is wrong. Better to go with Nikon, or one of the aftermarket flashes. But yeah, few if any other than Leica flashes will have TTL or even auto (imo auto is better than TTL due to no pre-flash, but is offered on very few modern flashes). Manual though is a lot easier to use than most people expect.

Some people may think Nikon is better for Leica, the pin are in the same place. but in reality 2pin are inverted, making the camera often confused and unresponsive.
But you can use the Nikon extension cable for Leica flash, since the connection are only extended from hot-shoe.

the middle pin is a general standard and most flashes should work in manual mode with the middle pin trigger. if you already have a flash you can cover the other contacts with thin scotch tape.

I found a very small flack from godox to work very well on the M11, it is light, only 2 batteries and can be tilted up, TT350. I am using a Sony mount and only middle pix is exposed.

Ah, thanks for clarifying that.

Refer you to two sections of the M11 manual
