Tailwagger Posted January 30, 2023 Share #1 Posted January 30, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Was out shooting today when I noticed that the level indicator froze. When moving from landscape to portrait, the green level line rotated as well, creating a vertical line. The central up/down indicator had disappeared as well. The camera remained otherwise operable. Took a few shots, but when the problem refused to clear, I popped the battery and things were back to normal. Problem didn't reoccur for the rest of the day. The other interesting thing of note was that all of the frames taken while the level was frozen wound up upside down on import into LR. Not a big deal problem, minor nuisance really, but its likely another data point which suggests there's some subsystem locks that aren't being freed. Figured I report it. Latest firmware, btw. MrPaulK Posted January 30, 2023 Share #2 Posted January 30, 2023 I never have my level indicator on, but do use the perspective values in Lightroom all the time and get intermittent missing values as well occasionally very wrong values. Yah, seems a little buggy. Never observed a particular pattern though (probably because I don't know until well after the fact)
MrPaulK Posted January 30, 2023 Share #3 Posted January 30, 2023 Also, when doing copy stand work, I wish you could turn it off, you tend to get portrait/landscape orientation a bit randomly...

Yah, seems a little buggy. Never observed a particular pattern though (probably because I don't know until well after the fact) I have yet to see incorrect values with LPC, and I use it often. Do they occur at large angles or even with small ones? With M11, you can quickly turn LPC on/off. I have assigned it to the rear wheel press. For leveling, I prefer LPC to level gauge as LPC does not overlay the center part of the frame.

While I never turn PC on per se as I can't abide the framing jumping around in the display, I use the results fairly often and almost always at least check the effect of applying it to the image. Obviously you can exceed its capabilities to perform a reasonable correction, but I've not noted any missing values or any untoward.

I never actually turn on LPC, I just use the values that are in the DNG selectively (which are there regardless). It happens with small angles as well, but not too often. I'm notorious for not being able to shoot level to save my life, but still use the rangefinder in preference to an EVF or liveview, so just fix it all in post, heh
