Eric, did you use a shift lens?  Vertical lines look parallel, or even slightly divergent, which is the opposite of what they "should" be doing.

Hi Tim,

No, I used a 28mm lens and the Guided Upright Tool in Lightroom to (try to) straighten the vertical and horizontal lines. I agree that the tower at the far right looks wrong, but I couldn't get everything to be perfectly rectilinear.

Looked good to me.  I lived in Walnut Creek for a while in the 80's.  My wife is from there.  Beautiful spot, Orinda.

San Francisco City Hall is a Beaux-Arts monument to the City Beautiful movement that epitomized the high-minded American Renaissance of the 1880s to 1917. The structure’s dome is taller than that of the United States Capitol by 42 feet. (from Wikipedia)

The building was front-lit at 8:30 a.m. on a Sunday morning (today), and there was almost no-one around. 35mm Summilux with orange filter. Processed in Lightroom and Silver Efex.

With digital correction of quote-perspective-unquote (tilted buildings), I've always found that after getting the uprights vertical, the objects in the picture are slightly "squat" and need a touch of increased vertical scaling to look correct.

This is mostly because the correction for perspective simply widens or stretches the top of the picture  <<<<</   \>>>>> to line things up - in only one dimension. Anisotropic scaling.

In the factory example, the verticals (including chimney) look fine to me - but it does look a bit like someone heavy sat on the whole building. ;)

Same for the City Hall shot. The rotunda is too "short" for the real width of the building, by a few %.

Just one of those little tricks one learns if one started out drawing architectural illustrations with pen-and-ink, before getting interested in cameras.

The War Memorial Veterans Building in San Francisco, opened in 1932, contains the Herbst Theatre, an 892-seat auditorium that was renovated in 1977. The United Nations Charter was signed here in 1945. Here it is on a Sunday morning during the pandemic, illuminated by the rising sun, with hardly any traffic or pedestrians. 28mm Summicron with an orange filter.

Can't pretend it's anything wonderful, but we should try to keep the M246 thread ahead of the M10M thread. So here are some peonies...
