To get the shutter count and the rest of what is called "Body Debug Data" on the Leica M9, Leica M9-P, Leica Monochrome and Leica M-E:

Push the Delete button, push the UP x 2 (on the Central Setting dial for navigation), push the DOWN x 4, push the LEFT x 3, push the RIGHT x 2; then push Info button.

Go to Hardware IDs to get the sensor model.

Go to Body Debug Data for shutter count (scroll down a couple of lines to see "NumExposures:

@Overgaard Thanks for correcting me. I actually based it on a 2 year old post of you on youtube that said this.

Yes, I just had a look at my M Monochrom with ID 52 that came back from Wetzlar yesterday, and it does have corrosion.

I can hardly get it to show in the actual pictures, but nonetheless it is there when I look with a strong light with a loupe.

Leica customer service said in 2019 it did not have any signs, and in 2021 they said it did now have signs of corrosion. I'll keep it as it, maybe have the glass replaced at some point if needed with the $1,500 service at New Jersey https://kolarivision.com/product/leica_m9_repair/

This is how corrosion looks on the sensor for all of us who have never seen it. Looks like tiny water drops or oil drops. The black specks are dust.

Thanks for this, Thorsten. Really helpful. I'd love to know the shutter count on my M9M, and I want to try this. After I've brought up this screen, and seen the data, what do I do to come out of that screen, and back to normal operation of the camera? Do I just switch it off and back on again?

Yes, off and on again and it's all back to normal.

Thank you very much..

And it's worked - always wondered how that was done. Cheers!

FWIW, a lowly 55K shutter actuations on my M9M. I've only used it for personal work, but I still thought I used it quite a bit. @Overgaard the 140K on your M9 is really something!
