nitroplait Posted January 7, 2023 Share #1 Posted January 7, 2023 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) OK, so I took possession of this crank thing and a few other film trimming things today. It is obviously for spooling film onto/into cassettes, but what is it called in Leitz language, and how do you use it correctly with a FILCA/IXMOO (assuming it is made for those)? Any online manuals? I feel stupid that I couldn't find the answer via Google, not even reversed image search. I think I have seen it many times in the past (not the ABLON an ABCOO of course). Also, I assume the wood part is not original - what would it originally have been attached to? Welcome, dear visitor! Pyrogallol Posted January 7, 2023 Share #4 Posted January 7, 2023 Yes, AFLOO. ASPUL doesnot have the other end to hold the spool. Welcome, dear visitor! derleicaman Posted January 7, 2023 Share #5 Posted January 7, 2023 ASPUL has a rather comic interpretation given a few more letters! :-)
nitroplait Posted January 8, 2023 Author Share #6 Posted January 8, 2023 Thanks! Searching for AFLOO certainly yielded more useful results. It appears that it doesn't offer convenience over my daylight loaders, as it would require me to load the center spool and reassemble the whole FILCA/IXMOO in the dark. My current process it to attach film to the assembled FILCA/IXMOO in a daylight loader (which doesn't close the cassette unfortunately), close the loader, wind according to the frame counter in the light and then remove and close the cassette in a dark bag. That is what I will continue to do - unless I get my hands on a 400 feet bulk roll some day.
