Hi folks. I'm new to Leicas (since selling my M8 10 years ago). Looking to get into another rangefinder body... and I found an M-E for sale, for $3k, with spare battery, from a shop willing to offer a year warranty on it.

Locally, I found a $2500 M 240 with a 2013 serial number. (Private seller). Seems that's about the going rate for an M 240.

Given the age of the two cameras (one is significantly newer than the other) and the modest upgrades with the M-E, it seems like the extra $500 is worth it. BUT... given the "special edition" status of the M-E - is it worth MORE or LESS than a standard M 240? A few years down the road, which will be worth less?

I understand that in use, both cameras will be primarily the same.

Thanks!

I'm in the same boat..

Going to purchase a MP 240 tomorrow.

I would get the ME if I were you..

Younger cam.. its the same guts as the MP..

Warrantee..

Are batteries warranteed as well?

Good looking cam..

Truthfully..I dont think there is even a question..as batteries go dead and are $215 a pop..

The warrantee is everything on a used cam..esp at this price point.

That's what I am thinking... considering the battery, it's a $300 premium  over the older camera, with a warranty. I was just concerned that a few years down the road, M-240s will be selling for more $$ than the M-E 240s, because they sold for more when new.
