I do own a M3 but I guess that is to new of a camera, It was made in 1959 when I was 8.

There are a lot of members here who do own a screwmount Leica, even those - shock, horror - who also use an M8. If you are not interested, just pass on by. Eoin Posted October 17, 2007 Share #5 Posted October 17, 2007 Well I thought I could have a go at entering this, technically my Summarex is LTM which mounts with a LTM - M adapter on to the M8. Then I read you had to shoot a roll of film!, LOL. Now I'm kind of in agreement with Ed, I wouldn't class my self as a M8 bigot but I'd be curious to know why it's film only?. vanhulsenbeek Posted October 17, 2007 Share #6 Posted October 17, 2007 I'd be curious to know why it's film only?. The film thing is where the challenge is. We M8 users aren't challenged any more. Our life is just dandy!
Eoin Posted October 17, 2007 Share #7 Posted October 17, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) ....We M8 users aren't challenged any more. Our life is just dandy! Oh!, OK, I knew there was some reason for going digital, I just wasn't able to quite put my finger on it, LOL. Didn't think I'd be a social outcast though!. Well then I absolutely agree with Ed, a bit pointless posting this in a digital M8 sub forum. I guess there is no hope of any random act of kindness towards us digital M'ers

I guess there is no hope of any random act of kindness towards us digital M'ers I totally agree with both of your posts. This is like some other challange on another sites Leica forum where you have to use a FIXED lens Leica camera or camera that has a Leica lens (still fixed), basically meaning P&S. I think the Mods should move/delete this post from the M8 forum. Or open it up to ALL Leica cameras, All film (including SLR and P&S) and All digital. bill Posted October 17, 2007 Author Share #9 Posted October 17, 2007 I totally agree with both of your posts. It's been a long time since I have read such unalloyed twaddle. How DARE I start a competition that requires the use of FILM and SCREWMOUNT Leicas! What an insult! How DARE I then publicise it in the M8 Ghetto! Heavens! How unreasonable! Ed, if you feel so strongly, start yourself an M8 Challenge. Nobody is stopping you. You could even run it at the same time, with the same theme, with the same basic rules, then you wouldn't have to put any thought into it at all. It's a bit of fun, for those who have a Barnack Leica and want to participate. I'm sorry if I have offended you by daring to sully the purity of your digital day. Oh, and while you are about it, do be careful getting down from your high horse. Regards, Bill

guy Posted October 17, 2007 Share #11 Posted October 17, 2007 I think it's great that Bill's bucking the digital trend. Those of us who use M8s have to remember that in Frimley many people are still using wood-burning cameras and whittling their own film out of bark. In comparison, a Barnack Leica is pretty futuristic stuff. I should know, I was born in Frimley Park Hospital and grew up in Camberley, which is next door – basically, it's Frimley without the happenin' night-life. In about 1976 Camberley got a multi-storey car-park, and the kids still gather round of an evening to look at it.
andybarton Posted October 17, 2007 Share #12 Posted October 17, 2007 Right and IF I, or someone else, started a Leica M8 ONLY challenge I certainly won't post it in the film forum.Sorry I don't own a horse. Why not? Some film users use M8s too. I think it's great that Bill's bucking the digital trend. I think you'll find that Bill uses a digital Leica too. I'm with Bill on this one. Sorry, but sometimes I think that some M8 users need to get out more. Just because you use an M8, doesn't mean that you have to abandon the use of any other camera. guy Posted October 17, 2007 Share #13 Posted October 17, 2007 Re-reading it, it's probably not clear, but my post was supposed to be one of solidarity. There's room for everyone in the Leicaship!
bill Posted October 17, 2007 Author Share #14 Posted October 17, 2007 Sorry I don't own a horse. ...or an understanding of idiom, it seems. high horse - definition of high horse by the Free Online Dictionary, Thesaurus and Encyclopedia. Don't worry about it. Enjoy your M8. Regards, Bill
