From the 5th floor of his hotel room. At first I thought the subjects were too small in the frame But I had to leave this father and children room to move. The grass texture (in black and white) reminded me of a grainy film emulsion. M10M 50mm Summilux PreAsph Welcome, dear visitor! I really appreciate it. I plan to make a print A2 size. Not sure if I will print on silver paper or a more textured Hahnemuhle paper. And I also thank @stuny for giving me feedback on many of the images I post. Thanks to both of you. Regards Carl

fotografr Posted December 30, 2022 Share #6 Posted December 30, 2022 Carl, you are correct about the grass. It really does look like film grain. The action is very nice as you have caught a wonderful, carefree period of play between the father and his children. I think your decision to print it is a good one and will likely reinforce the strengths in the image.

Jul Posted January 2, 2023 Share #9 Posted January 2, 2023 Their race in an arc is the perfect counterpoint to the still (obviously), straight and angular low wall. I never would have guessed it's grass on the ground but the ground is for sure reminescent of rodinal developped high-iso film.

Cheers, Shlomo Dear Shlomo, I thank you for your words and comment regarding the art of photography. Encouraging. When I took this photo from the 5th floor of the hotel, I was subjugated by this man jumping around and dancing, his gestures imitated by the children. In 1970, I saw the exhibition FAMILY OF MAN, created by Edward Steichen for the Museum of Modern Art; an exhibition that inspired me greatly. As I was clicking away, trying to make sense of the movements down below, I thought of the photo (which was part of the Family of Man exhibition) of Alfred Eisenstaedt of a young man, dressed up in some sort of military uniform, one leg up, his head towards the sky, marching to the sound of an invisible band, and followed by a half dozen or so children imitating their leader. Playing like no one was watching. Best regards. Carl.
