Hello. I need one info please. I’m asking if the 11688 Summilux 1.4/50mm black chrome of 2015 is really a limited edition of 500 pieces plus other 500 for the LHSA. I’m saying and asking this because I notice now the there are some European official Leica dealer that have the lens in stock, at a price of around 5.000 euro (depends of the National VAT but the difende is some euros). But some of theme have an higher serial number (also 48… at the start, mine starts with 43…) and these lens are out of the serial ranges known from 2015. All are with Made in Germany engraved. So what’s happen? Are all the stock of the 500 original pieces and Leica made few pieces during these years? Or Leica remade this special edition and at this point is a regular edition with more of 500 pieces? Many thanks for the help.

I’m guessing, because there are so many 11891 out there (readily available as new or used) it’s only that much harder to sell more 11891, Leica knows their retro style is so appealing to the Leica community, they simply do more of it and sell for more money, which is a sensible thing to do for Leica,

the styling 11688 had appeared several times in the past, the LHSA version in lacquer black paint and silver chrome, Lenny Kravitz correspondent limited edition, Frankfurt Leica store (blue MP240 set) and now in black chrome which is still easily found online from evilBay

another example of this truck is the version 4 Summicron 35mm in silver chrome (1st gen ASPH) how many times it’s been made into limited edition, while it’s exactly the same as the normal version silver chrome, except the limited silver hood, it was made into Hermes version, safari version, and many more like millennial version black paint

the only more rare limited edition seems to be the Black Lacquer Paint, as it demands more attention due to similarity to older black paint

in actual use, perhaps the normal 11891 is not only quicker with a shorter flow of focus, but also easier to attain accurate focus with a focusing tap

but Leica as figured us out, we want the slightly more rare and special versions of things
