Jon Schick Posted December 25, 2022 Share #1 Posted December 25, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) My D2 had been perfectly behaved until tonight. After a few shots with bounced flash I opened the flash to the full forward setting and the camera suddenly died. The battery is relatively new and recently charged. A change to another newly charged new battery has made no difference. So I now have a handsome photographic paperweight. Any thoughts? I'm assuming there had been some kind of electrical flash related surge which has caused damage somewhere, and it's probably not economic to repair ☹️

stuny Posted December 26, 2022 Share #4 Posted December 26, 2022 How about with the flash fully folded back into the camera?

dpitt Posted December 26, 2022 Share #6 Posted December 26, 2022 Sorry for your loss! 😢 I have a real user D2 here, lost its skin and some of its paint long ago. It will not even be a pretty paperweight when it dies. Maybe that is why it keeps itself in working order until now, hoping I will take it out occasionally. Everytime I do, I am amazed at how much joy it provides. And still, some of the JPGs out of camera nail it perfectly and they still have something magical. If you really liked it, hurry up and buy a good user with replaced sensor. Some people still sell them at bottom prices, but I think collectors are starting to drive the price up for the mint D2’s. Doubt it will help, but worth a try. Edited December 27, 2022 by Graham (G4FUJ) Punctuation
