Will there come a new Summilux 75mm ASPH ?

I would not be surprised by a new lens policy from Leica.

The standard line, like Summarit and a Pro line to come. They did present 4 new lenses at the same time, the Summarit sisters, so why not a whole new line for pros, no front / back focus on the M8, asph, speed, and maybe IR coated lense, no need for filter.

There is enough stock and second hand availability for analog M users, it would make sense to concentrate in fighting on the digital market making lenses specifically made for the M8 and future Ms.

Same as other brand have done, Canon with his L line of lenses for pros.

Actually if Leica wants to attract new clients and keep pros at the same time, it does make "commercial" sense.

Future will tell, and seing how the new CEO is moving on, I think we will see new things very soon a lot faster than we've seen things happen in the past 50 years.

I do not think Leica will make any 'cropped' lenses. They do obviously see a full-frame M in the future. Not the very near future, but Leica lenses are long-lived, and a FF M camera would make very many buyers of 'cropped' lenses angry.

I do not think we will see any new Summilux lenses, except possibly a re-designed 35mm. I also think that several Summicron lenses, though not the 75 or the 28, are endangered. The great question is what will happen at the wide end. Leica seem to be working on a prime superwide, 16 or 18mm. What the speed would be is anybody's guess. But we can of course count on rangefinder coupling and IR cut filter capability.

Leica lenses have always been expensive as far as i recall but their price is reaching stratospheric summits nowadays so nobody will buy them any more if things go on like that IMHO. Even old Leica freaks like me end up buying second hand's go figure
