This is a nice portrait but the model doesn't seem to have that electricity that most of your others have. It's also a bit too straight on for me. I think I'd like it much more if the model was perhaps turned to the side and looking at the camera, or just doing something other than standing there. I generally love your work, as you know, but not this one.

Thanks a lot for your open words and the time to discuss the photo. And for sure it is no problem at all, that this portrait is not one of your all time favorites. When I choose a photo, it is always very subjective and the most important thing to me is the question: do I like it? If yes, I choose it. After your comment I tried to find the reasons why I have chosen the photo. Maybe the most important part in this portrait was her right eye which is framed by her hair, her strong but calm view in comparison to motion of her hair. And I also liked the b/w of the photo which was done with Hasselblad Phocus software. But especially for you I will try find a photo where the position is not too straight.

Wish you and you family a Merry Christmas and you happy New Year 2023

The same wish back to you, Marc. I should have mentioned that I do very much like the image quality and b&w processing. I also like the photo much more when viewing on my large monitor. I left my comment after just viewing on my phone and the two views are very different. On the large monitor I can see what you mean about the eyes.

Cheers, Brent

Thanks a lot Stuart! I am a fan fan!😉😉

I have a funny story about the word “fan” and I believe it’s true. A longtime ago I worked for IBM and they were known for their use of acronyms everywhere - probably still are. Apparently in their technical diagrams most of the bits and pieces were identified by acronyms (CPU, HDD etc) but no-one could work out what one piece was, which was identified as a “FAN”. So they changed the device’s name from “FAN” to “AMD” (Air Movement Device) and there was no more confusion and everyone lived happily ever after.
