bobtodrick Posted December 16, 2022 Share #4 Posted December 16, 2022 It’s…a…lens…cap. Nearly $100 total to get it to Canada!!
Anbaric Posted December 16, 2022 Share #5 Posted December 16, 2022 That's nothing. It would cost me £4720 in London. No postage charge if I pick it up from the shop, but I also need to factor in the cost of the Q2 I don't have.

DenverSteve Posted December 17, 2022 Share #8 Posted December 17, 2022 The factory cap works fine for me. 2
fontilan Posted December 17, 2022 Share #9 Posted December 17, 2022 That RDC is a very ugly thing. Imagine creating that and thinking “yep, nailed it.” I like the factory cap too. Does it get looser with age (don’t we all)? 2
Anbaric Posted December 17, 2022 Share #10 Posted December 17, 2022 (edited) Red Dot are great dealers, but they should really resist the urge to brand everything red. Their replacement for the notoriously loose and now discontinued 14043 cap (which fits the 35/2 ASPH v1 hood) is entirely red: https://www.reddotcameras.co.uk/hoods-caps/16609-rdc-hood-cap-replacement-for-leica-14043-cap.html I'm sure plain black versions would sell better. The 3D-printed, unbranded 14043 replacement I got from isacjohansson on ebay looks fine and is more secure than the Leica original. If it does I would reline the rim with adhesive felt OR go without. With the hood on (which you have to have to use the caps) the front element is protected, more than enough, for me. Le Chef Posted January 18, 2023 Share #12 Posted January 18, 2023 You would be better buying a bunch of shower caps for old ladies than buying that ugly thing!
