Guest Posted December 22, 2022 Share #28 Posted December 22, 2022 @leicaoptik and @Keith (M), do you find distortion to be an issue on this lens? Hope I don’t have to worry. 🙈

Hope I don’t have to worry. 🙈 Firstly, congrats on your acquisition and your first upload As to distortion (with the caveat that I don't specifically carry out architectural photography), uploading files into LR Classic and ticking the Lens Corrections / Apply Profile Corrections box corrects any that are present. Enjoy exploring what the lens is capable of, whether it be at f1.2 or any other aperture - I am still very much in the foothills of that journey! Guest Posted December 24, 2022 Share #32 Posted December 24, 2022 @leicaoptik, @Keith (M), do you also have to use two fingers to focus on you 50mm 1.2 nocti? My focus ring seems a bit too dampened/weighted to focus with just one finger. I guess that is normal for this lens, when new at least, but just wanted to make sure everything is as it should be? 😊 Merry x-mas!
leicaoptik Posted December 24, 2022 Share #33 Posted December 24, 2022 The Nocti has a focus ring and not a focus tab. The Leica lenses with a focus ring are to handle with two fingers for adjusting the focus… merry x-mas Welcome, dear visitor! TomB_tx Posted December 24, 2022 Share #34 Posted December 24, 2022 I hope you enjoy the Noctilux 1.2. I had a chance to buy a new one (original) in 1969 when I saw it in a camera shop in Chicago (Altman's) for ~$678. But I was just out of college and it didn't fit the budget of this new engineer. So I got a Summicron and used it happily for 40 years. Now that the 1.2 is available new again it still doesn't fit the budget of this long-retired engineer. Some things never seem to change. 3

Well, for me it wasn’t an “easy” purchase on the wallet. Had to trade-in a lens, will sell 1-2 more to ease the pain and also got a great deal. Else this would never have been possible for me. But a totally get it - as an engineer of background as well. 😊 I will enjoy it respectfully for all the hard work it took me to be able to afford it even at a great price. Thanks and very merry x-mas, Mads
Guest Posted February 7, 2023 Share #36 Posted February 7, 2023 Just a quick follow-up question to fellow 50mm f/1.2 Noctilux re-issue owners: Does the aperture ring on your copies also have a slight hint of “play/wobble” in the aperture indents? I.e. when turning the aperture ring to change aperture, just before disengaging from the current selected f-stop/aperture click, I can wobble/wiggle the ring ever so slightly in the turning directions. I guess, I shouldnt worry and it’s a bit like the aperture ring “play” of the 35mm Steel Rim re-issue (which I also have). But would be interested in your experience. evikne Posted February 7, 2023 Share #37 Posted February 7, 2023 Not the same lens, but my 50mm Summilux ASPH Black Chrome behaved the same way. The materials and construction have much in common, so I guess we experience the same thing. When I tapped it with my finger, it produced a metallic sound that eventually drove me crazy. 😄

Guest Posted February 8, 2023 Share #39 Posted February 8, 2023 @leicaoptik and @Keith (M), how are the aperture ring on your 50/1.2 Nocti?
leicaoptik Posted February 8, 2023 Share #40 Posted February 8, 2023 The aperture ring is not that stiff as on my other lenses. The resistance from 1.2 to 1.4 is lower compared to the other clicks. That is also the case in my new summilux 35 (FLE2) here the step from 1.4 to 1.8 Next time I am in Wetzlar I will ask Leica if that can be adjusted to a stiffer drive. The most stiff aperture ring I have in the silver chrome lenses. The smoothest has my blackpaint summilux 50mm which is butterly with just the right stop resistance
