Rick in CO Posted December 1, 2022 Share #1  Posted December 1, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) Couldn't find any better place to post this topic - What If ... the "new" Leica - Panasonic collaboration is an, ie. Panasonic S1R, in Leica M mount ? Yes, manual focus, but with a focus confirmation EVF. This would allow the use of those big Leica M lenses that intrude into the viewfinder of M cameras. I recently picked up a second-hand CL and am impressed with lenses like the 35 f1.4 Summilux-TL, large but not EVF-obtrusive. A compact, high resolution EVF camera for the 6-bit coded Leica M lenses like those big Summicrons and Summiluxes ? Isn't there a limitation to the Leica M viewfinder that lenses are designed to be more compact in size (ie. compatible with the VF) have corresponding performance consequences  ? Of course, there are M-to-L adapters, but how about a dedicated M-mount EVF Panasonic camera ? They are doing it for a phone! Just a thought.
Advertisement Posted December 1, 2022 Posted December 1, 2022 Hi Rick in CO, Take a look here Panasonic M-mount camera ?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
frame-it Posted December 1, 2022 Share #2  Posted December 1, 2022 an APS-C Panasonic CL Sized camera, with native M mount would work and probably sell well, but why would they do it?
FrozenInTime Posted December 1, 2022 Share #3 Â Posted December 1, 2022 Ricoh tried with the GXR, but ultimately camera companies want a regular profit stream from you buying many of their lenses.
tommonego@gmail.com Posted December 1, 2022 Share #4  Posted December 1, 2022 I was hoping Panasonic was going to bring out a modern CL with the L mount. M mount lenses would then fit via the M to L adapter. There is a new 26mp and rumors of a 36mp APS-C sensors. Don't think it is going to happen. sinjun Posted December 1, 2022 Share #5 Â Posted December 1, 2022 It needn't be Panasonic. I've said it before, I'd like it if some 3rd party manufacturer, e.g. Zeiss, brought out an M or Ikon style EVF camera. I still enjoy my Kolari-modified A7S - it's full frame, barely larger than the CL and plays well with M lenses including wide angles - better even than the M10. But haptics and menu leave something to be desired.
jaeger Posted December 1, 2022 Share #6  Posted December 1, 2022 (edited) I have the smallest M mount panasonic, any one of my GF lenses is 3x bigger than it 😄 Edit: actually the 35 lux works best IMO, but the summitar looks best.  Welcome, dear visitor! jaeger Posted December 1, 2022 Share #8  Posted December 1, 2022 (edited) Summitar 5cm. It's 100mm f4 equivalent. Can I lie about it was taken with a M11 + 90mm noctilux? I have to lower the resolution to upload ~ which is too bad but it still look ok. Welcome, dear visitor!
