techpan Posted October 4, 2007 Share #1 Posted October 4, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have been looking for a 4th generation F2 Summicron 35mm for its' compact size. I have come across a silver mint version. I wanted to find out what would be a good price for it? Also, does anyone have any sample shots that they would like to share showing the bokeh of this lens? Advertisement Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 Hi techpan, Take a look here Summicron 35mm F2 4th generation silver - How much?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
carstenw Posted October 4, 2007 Share #2 Posted October 4, 2007 In Europe I am sure this would command €1000, easily. The black version comes in around €800, and since the U.S. price seems to be $800 for the black version, perhaps $1000 would be a good starting point. If it is rare, even more. Nice lens! sparkie Posted October 4, 2007 Share #3 Posted October 4, 2007 Chrome V4's are harder to come by than the black ones. Weighs more (though this is sometimes nice for such a small lens), wears better and better built. In the UK you are looking at £750-900 for a mint one. At £750 its a good deal. But the price is more like £850 upwards if the seller knows what he has

Philippe D. Posted October 4, 2007 Share #7 Posted October 4, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I wanted to find out what would be a good price for it? Also, does anyone have any sample shots that they would like to share showing the bokeh of this lens? This is the king of bokeh.Like on the picture, with filter and so on, i would blind give 1k€ for it (and it would be a bargain), but i have a black one (lighter but plastic instead full metal jacket). Maybe just have a look about fog, who knows?...

Philippe D. Posted October 4, 2007 Share #14 Posted October 4, 2007 cant be coded as far as I know.Of course the Summicron 35 chrom (ref. 11311) CAN be 6 bits coded. No problem!
Ozkar Posted October 4, 2007 Share #15 Posted October 4, 2007 I have hand coded my 35/2 IV without difficulty. I also have the 35/2 ASPH and consider it to be quite a bit better than the IV on the M8, particularly wide open. The IV needs to be stopped down to f4 before it approaches the performance of the ASPH. I also prefer the bokeh with the ASPH. The chrome 35/2 IV is highly collectable, however for the same money I would buy a black ASPH. Ozkar
j. borger Posted October 4, 2007 Share #16 Posted October 4, 2007 The asking price for a mint 35mm CHROME type IV Like new in box from respectable 2nd hand dealers is around Euro 1500 - 1600. That's the price i paid for mine.....! A black version mint is around Euro 1000. I also have the black asph version (mint) and am not able to sell it for a descent price....it sits here collecting dust ......... i prefer the type IV by a distance! Here are two bokeh examples .. both pictures at f2.0 ....... vignetting in 2nd picture is added in post and is not typical for the lens btw ... Welcome, dear visitor! palmskov Posted October 4, 2007 Share #17 Posted October 4, 2007 The 35mm 4th. generation is my workhorse. Actually the only one I have used the past 3 months. It's really a gem and wouldn't be without mine. Please check Nikolaj Palmskov Photos for examples. Check the submenu moments and look at the first 3 photos. I think 1000 euro is more than a fair price. In Denmark the price is around 1500... Welcome, dear visitor! rosuna Posted October 4, 2007 Share #19 Posted October 4, 2007 A friend of mine bought one just three days ago at Fotocasión, Madrid. Summicron 35mm IV, mint, chrome, 1.150 € taxes included. It was a very good price, in my opinion.
luigi bertolotti Posted October 4, 2007 Share #20 Posted October 4, 2007 Owner is asking 1300 dollars for it. I've been looking for this so I might just get it... If it's the one depicted, with bag, box etc... definitely a GOOD price unless surprises on lens conditions (unprobable if the owner has conserved so well the original box...)
