albertwang Posted August 17, 2006 Share #2 Posted August 17, 2006 Wow, lovely shot in Turkey. I like the variety of characters being depicted. Sweet.
stuny Posted August 17, 2006 Share #3 Posted August 17, 2006 Richard - Excellent "color", focus, tones and subject. Did you have to adjust the horizon any?

semrich Posted August 18, 2006 Author Share #5 Posted August 18, 2006 Albert - Thanks, this is the exit from the ferry to the island of Buyukada a popular tourist destination so I regularly see interesting people from the Arabic countries. Stuart - Thanks, this is a "hip shot" straight out of the camera with a very slight crop to the right side to eliminate the edge of a postcard rack, and adjusted tones. Victor - Thanks, I have been practicing your suggested method of judging f stop, distance, and framing from waist level. I am getting much better at it. thought I admit I had a very good shot yesterday that I really like but the subjects head was cut off at the top of his nose. vic vic Posted August 18, 2006 Share #6 Posted August 18, 2006 ha ha richard - ya it happens to me too though very very rare. when it happens it is either funny or drives me crazy:-) but some time to work like this and u will get used to this kind of framing with minimal mistakes. u will develop sense of framing and the needed coordination between the mind and the hand u do it with 35mm - it is possible cause i also do it with 50mm, but i would rather suggest that u will experience it with wider lens. what is wide for your camera??? 21/25. by the way - there is little lens called snapshot skopar 25, it is voigtlander and it is very cheap as far as i remember. this is the perfect lens for it. this way, u will have the ability to get much closer to your subject and catch stunning intimacy and dynamic in te frame if u want to. it has click stops on 1m, 1.5, and 3m. and it is really tiny. the quality is very good as well.
