fotografr Posted October 2, 2007 Share #3 Posted October 2, 2007 I shall shortly be visiting Chicago. Can anyone recommend a store that sells Leica/ Voigtlander equipment? Also check Helix, 310 S. Racine. They generally have a very large inventory of new and used equipment.
Dan States Posted October 2, 2007 Share #4 Posted October 2, 2007 Central is a good source. Manny is a great salesperson and really knows his rangefinder equipment. Helix used to be as good, but seems to have completely imploded. I was there a few weeks ago and they had virtually nothing in the way of Leica products. The help has changed over multiple times and what is there now seems useless to Leica users.
johnwolf Posted October 2, 2007 Share #5 Posted October 2, 2007 There's also a Calumet Photo, which carries Leica gear. But Central is best.

I haven't been in there for a couple of years, and by the sound of it, I haven't missed much.

michael friedberg Posted October 3, 2007 Share #10 Posted October 3, 2007 Central is a good source. Manny is a great salesperson and really knows his rangefinder equipment. . All I know is that last September I went to Central and asked if they could get me an M8. They said "sure --we'll get you one as soon as they come out and we get one. We already have a list, but you can be first on our list if you make a full non-refundable deposit". That's not the way I do business. I said "let me think about that, but for now just put me on the list and let me know when you get one". Manny duly wrote down my name on a scrap of paper, and that's the last I heard. Instead, I got my M8 for Foto Hobby Rahn in Germany right when they came out, and couldn't be more pleased with how they handle customers. If, by the way, you are are in the obscure Chicago suburbs, ABC Camera Brokers in Buffalo Grove is an authorized Leica dealer.
