cbretteville Posted October 2, 2007 Share #1 Posted October 2, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Looks to me like the Summitar 5cm should collapse safely on an M8. Does anyone know for sure? - Carl
Advertisement Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 Hi cbretteville, Take a look here Summitar on an M8 - OK to collapse?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Shootist Posted October 2, 2007 Share #2 Posted October 2, 2007 I think it is covered in the manual. I won't try it as I think it states that none of the older collapsible lens should be collapsed. Only the new 50/2.8.
luigi bertolotti Posted October 2, 2007 Share #3 Posted October 2, 2007 Officially, one cannot retract a Summitar... I measured that if my old Elmar 5cm can be retracted (and IT CAN, I tried at my risk... nothing happened) the Summitar ought to be too... but I have not decided yet to try... maybe I'll try befor the DR Summicron, on which lot has been written in the forum... cbretteville Posted October 2, 2007 Author Share #4 Posted October 2, 2007 Well, now that I can compare it to my 50 Elmar-M, I see that the Summitar protrudes 3-4mm less into the body than my 50 Elmar-M so it should be safe to collapse it into the M8.
