kivis Posted November 17, 2022 Share #1 Â Posted November 17, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) Leica.com says black finish. What does that mean? Black paint, Black chrome or some new technique?
Advertisement Posted November 17, 2022 Posted November 17, 2022 Hi kivis, Take a look here Black Finish on the new M6. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
shirubadanieru Posted November 17, 2022 Share #2  Posted November 17, 2022 New technique of black paint (that looks similar to black chrome). Same as the M11 but texture feels slightly different and improved.
250swb Posted November 17, 2022 Share #3  Posted November 17, 2022 I think it was with the M9 that Leica first started using a powder coated paint technique and it's much tougher than normal sprayed enamel or acrylic paints.
250swb Posted November 17, 2022 Share #4 Â Posted November 17, 2022 2 hours ago, Al Brown said: Leica said it is a "super durable matte black painted finish" and will not brass easily unless you scratch it intentionally (spoken out at the interview with Three Blind Men and An Elephant Productions), but eventually it will brass. This is what caught out the people who rushed out and bought some sandpaper when the M9 was released, within a few weeks they started to post photographs of supposedly naturally brassed M9's while everybody else was saying 'nope, not mine'.
