danielfrimley Posted November 13, 2022 Share #1 Â Posted November 13, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) Have any of the technicians in the group done any calculations to work out the EV+ highlight recovery threshold on the CL? If so, may I ask what you concluded?
Advertisement Posted November 13, 2022 Posted November 13, 2022 Hi danielfrimley, Take a look here ETTR headroom for highlights on CL. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
tommonego@gmail.com Posted November 13, 2022 Share #2  Posted November 13, 2022 I use mine on manual and find one to two clicks to the left of normal exposure works, this is what I go for for my first exposure, if it looks too dark I will go to the normal exposure point. I use DNG exclusively.
wda Posted November 13, 2022 Share #3  Posted November 13, 2022 I find it easier in manual exposure control.
jaapv Posted November 13, 2022 Share #4 Â Posted November 13, 2022 I just watch the Histogram and make sure it does not spike against the righthand side. Working that way I find that EV compensation varies between -2 and +1 for optimal exposure and avoiding blown highlights, so I do not believe in rule-of-thumb settings. 2
DenverSteve Posted November 15, 2022 Share #5  Posted November 15, 2022 (edited) Simply turn on exposure peaking and use your exposure-control dial to minimize, or eliminate, over-exposed areas. Recover the shadows later. Edited November 15, 2022 by DenverSteve
