Pay attention to your mood when you start and when you finish. This combination of factors should help you make a determination. Twenty five seconds per the Leica instructions to load the M4.  That incudes winding twice and snugging the film.  Happy the whole time! To be fair, I've been doing this for a while.

But my post was about the original film loading system in the M-3.

Just tried it with my M2, 46 seconds from a closed plastic film box film and bottom on plate the camera to first shot ready to go. 31 seconds same perameters for my MP. 21 seconds for my M4-P. While I was at it I did the same exercise with my old Canon F1n 24 seconds. And finally 15 seconds to change the SD card in my M9 (not that it matters). That was after a trying the Rapid Load kit with little success. I actually was fine with just loading the spool and could do it in well under a minute. Did you count the time it took to open the plastic box the SD card was in? I’ve had a few that I couldn’t find the latch no matter where I looked!🤔

I haven been there but have called a few times and they are always plesant and knowledgeable. Often, when a local shop closes, Pacific Rim will buy the inventory. One of the gems was Hollywood Camera. Ed Schonnker was the propitor of Hollywood Camera for sixty-five years. When he passed away in 2019, he left a shop full of gear ranging from the mundane to the seldom seen. Here's an article from the area monthly paper: Â https://star-news.info/2019/05/09/ed-schonneker-leaves-legacy-in-hollywood/

I have a second spool loaded and ready to go, so film changes are very quick and non fiddly.  Quicker than loading a regular 35mm camera. I keep the second spool and film in a very convenient Adox double film canister that they sell their CMS 20 2 packs in.  Some kind soul sent me a couple. Good way to keep any dust or lint from your pocket off of the film!
