Over the years I have used this often to refer to serial numbers, technical information, to learn about products I haven't tried, etc. Mostly this was a few years ago when the wiki was being actively updated. But it seems the last major revision was in 2015. Have we lost our wiki editors? Is there another reason it is not updated?

Meantime I'd like to say thank you to all those who contributed to it. It remains a great resource.

Yes, it’s a pity this resource is not updated very often. I did see that some changes were made in 2020 but there is still quite a lot of information missing. For me the worst part are the broken links which refer to related discussions on the forum. Some years ago I send a message that I was willing to help with the work but never received an answer.

Thanks for mentioning the Leica Wiki.

It has always been a kind of stepchild – and right now it leads to me for a lot of trouble…

  • I installed the Wiki in 2007
  • The content comes from a handful of members, most of it from one member ( @tdavis) who wasn't active in the forum since 2016, his last Wiki edits are from 2020.
  • The structure is – uhm – there is no real structure. No content structure, no layout, no guidelines how to create pages etc. It's just a heap of interesting data.
  • There are some really popular pages, especially the serial numbers – but the list stops in 2002:
    https://wiki.l-camera-forum.com/leica-wiki.en/index.php/Serial_Numbers_Leica_Cameras
  • I spent the last week including the weekend with updating the Wiki software. I'm still fixing bugs, it looks as if images are not displayed correctly, though database entries and files are present. BTW – this wasn't fun project but without the update the wiki would have stopped to work on Nov 14th after a server update.

The problem: We have a lot of great content in an outdated structure.

What to do with it?

My problem: I have absolutely no time or resources to start or maintain a project. It would need a lot of time and expertise and team work if we want to create a really useful and up-to-date source of Leica information.

Firstly, thank you Andreas for saving this wicked stepchild from oblivion on 14th November, by updating the Wiki software.

Even as it is the Wiki is a great resource. I'm sure many forum members here value it, and others too.

But that doesn't oblige you to update it, etc. And sadly, like Pete, I don't have the skills to help with it... so I can have no expectation that someone else might step in to help here, as these things soak up a lot of time, I know.

I wonder tough if an appeal to members here might not yield some skilled volunteers to help?

Anyway, thanks for having hosted it Andreas, and for the reply here. Fingers crossed!

Again, I would gladly help if required.
