Just was curious to see if any differences in price between existing MP, M-A and the new model M6. B&H, NYC lists the MP for $5,600 plus, the M-A for $5,500 plus. Leica USA advises the new M6 when released on November 3 will have a MSRP $5,295.00. According to Leica, the new M6 is aimed at a younger demographic, first time Leica buyer. Again according to Leica, the original M6 was produced in approximately 180,000 units.

It will be interesting* to watch used M6 (original) prices. They seem to be currently around half the price of the new one. Will they fall because everyone will now want the new one, or rise because of the extra interest stirred up by the launch?

* Of course I have no interest in picking up a nice used one......of course......of course.....hmmmm...

Whether the M6 classic goes up in value depends on whether the meter can be repaired with M6 reissue parts.

For the last few days, Leica has been dissembling a little in their messaging on social media, so it's not clear what the truth is.

If it's the case, young first time Leica buyers are much more wealthy than before.

Ok , just checked my credit card statement.  I was charged $4294.65 for the new M6 to be delivered from the UK to the US.

If I bought it here in the US it would cost me $5295 + tax = $5798.  So I saved $1503.  And it comes w full international warranty.

Still waiting for delivery though....

That's awesome, looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the camera when you have it in your hands.

How? The prices on the UK site diverted to USD is about the same as if buying it from USA.

What part don't you understand?  I think I explained it quite clearly.  It's called arbitrage.

Maybe you don't realize that in England they have to pay 20% VAT.  If you buy for export, you do not.  So you get 20% off the UK price and a currently favorable exchange rate due to the weak GBP.

The listed UK price includes VAT? I’ve never purchased from UK. I assumed it worked like US where the tax is not included in the list price. So that is what I didn’t understand, if my statement is correct.
