fotografr Posted October 22, 2022 Share #2 Posted October 22, 2022 I've heard these things are quite friendly, but looking at the third photo makes me not want to get too close.
stuny Posted October 22, 2022 Share #3 Posted October 22, 2022 Lovely. Brent - The first time we saw meerkats was in the Kalahari in Botswana. They only tolerate people being near them when they've become habituated to them. Often, the tourist camp operators have a person who spends time with them every day to keep the animals habituated to humans - sounds like a great job. Those scary teeth are prefect for incapacitating their favorite food, scorpions, before they can sting them. Meerkats rapidly dig them out of the ground. You might remember one of my favorite photos of Bárbara with meerkats, where one seems to be admiring her shoes, and another seems to be admiring her hat. Next week I'll post that one again as part of my 120,000 post.
