crow Posted October 20, 2022 Share #1 Posted October 20, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) Which is the degree of magnification should an optometrist was to build me one(0.60)? The viewfinder outer back window, where the eye rests, is missing. Welcome, dear visitor! Advertisement Posted October 20, 2022 Posted October 20, 2022 Hi crow, Take a look here Leica CL vf window. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Michael Geschlecht Posted October 22, 2022 Share #2 Posted October 22, 2022 Hello crow, 0.6X is correct. The Leitz CL takes diopters in the series 14081. This is NOT the same series as the "M" camera 14061 diopters. Best Regards, Michael
crow Posted October 22, 2022 Author Share #3 Posted October 22, 2022 Thanks Michael. So it's just a transparent material with a x0.60 magnification, plastic, or glass, that's all(?).
crow Posted October 22, 2022 Author Share #4 Posted October 22, 2022 Or is it a reverse Galilean type with a x0.60 magnification?

Hello crow, I don't know. You might ask the people in Wetzlar. Best Regards, Michael
jerzy Posted October 23, 2022 Share #6 Posted October 23, 2022 as I may see you will need not only the lens but as well mount for it, like pictured below. Maybe it would be cheaper to ask for example DAG (in US) or other repair shops if they have it as spare part. As far as I know when replacing top cover it was shipped from Leica together with eyelet. crow Posted October 23, 2022 Author Share #7 Posted October 23, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) I see. Thank you Jerzy. Are you implying that the inner, secondary, smaller box, on which the glass is mounted, holds it in place? You see there is a concave cavity, all around the perimeter of the opening you see in the picture. The way I was thinking about it was to just mount the glass into the concave groove. You think this is too little of a solution?
jerzy Posted October 23, 2022 Share #8 Posted October 23, 2022 (edited) I am afraid that I do not fully understand what you mean. Maybe these 2 photos will clarify a bit. Marked surface is a mask only, there is no lens in there. Behind this mask there is beam splitter and then front lens. And in top cover, in front there is plain, protecting glas (not shown on photos below) Welcome, dear visitor! Holder of the lens in eyelet is made from black plastic and has a special, curved form to accomodate to the curved top cover. Photo below show eyelet fixed in top cover. Possibly, if you will have squared lens made you may fix it directly on the mask, but then, because of different distance between front and rear lens the focal length of rear length may be different then original Leica/Minolta. It might be worth to check with DAG (or other repair shop) for original spare part. crow Posted October 23, 2022 Author Share #9 Posted October 23, 2022 OK. Thank you Jerzy. By mask you mean the metal casing. I thought the lens fits exactly in the casing, not further inside or outside. So, the distance between the beam splitter and the glass in mom's is exactly the same, equals, that between the splitter and casing. The way it looks, with the frame you posted looks like the distance between splitter and glass lens is longer than splitter and camera black metal casing.
