DYEE2049 Posted October 19, 2022 Share #1  Posted October 19, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) hi all. I've got a Leica Q (first version) that was unfortunately got hit by the ball at my kid's softball game. Since then it seems to be making incorrect ISO choices in Auto ISO mode, and I'm also sensing that the focus may be off. I'm considering sending it to Leica Service in the US. Wondering if anyone has had any experience with Leica repair service. Thanks for sharing!

jaapv Posted October 19, 2022 Share #2  Posted October 19, 2022 There is no other place you can send it to except Leica Germany.
stuny Posted October 19, 2022 Share #3  Posted October 19, 2022 Danny - I'm in the  Northeast of the US and have often used Leica's New Jersey facility.  Sometimes they can do the repairs there, but for most of my repairs they prepare an estimate, get my approval, and then send the camera or lens to Germany.  Based on my Q experiences, I'm nearly certain they will send it to Germany.  I have no idea whether it's better to send to Germany via New Jersey,, or send it directly.  However, when I send  (or drop off, when they were allowing that) I get the name, email address and phone number of a specific customer rep who I can contact, and who keeps me advised of what is happening.  My Q is presently in Germany.
bobtodrick Posted October 19, 2022 Share #4  Posted October 19, 2022 As a Leica dealer we use Leica NJ for all our repairs. As has been mentioned it may end up going to Germany, but we have found turnaround time to be very good (and assuming you are in North America) if you do have issues it is easier to deal with someone on this continent than having to deal with Germany directly. As well there will be the whole shipping issues, duty and such that NJ will handle. Less work to send it to them. ravinj Posted October 21, 2022 Share #5 Â Posted October 21, 2022 (edited) Agree with above and another vote for Leica NJ who will then deal with Leica Germany if needed. Leica NJ serviced my Q2 locally, cleaning out dust from EVF. It took two weeks. For more involved work it would likely had to be sent to Germany. LeicaR10 Posted October 21, 2022 Share #6 Â Posted October 21, 2022 (edited) Dyee2049, Â First welcome to the forum. Â The forum has a lot of experienced Leica users of all types. Â Second, Leica NJ moved both its headquarters, warehouse, repair service and parts department over this past summer. Â All repairs were placed on hold or if time permitted, were forwarded to Leica at Wetzlar Germany. Â Just so you know, the repair department still has service issues and you will experience a wait time using NJ. The best thing to do is go to the Leica Camera Ag Germany website and look up Service Support. (Link below) Â You can request a shipping label for your repair. Â Leica Customer Care will tell you what you must do to ship the camera back to Germany. Â I found the longest hang-up is German Customs, but Leica will give you instructions on what to write on the Customs Declaration. Â Just follow the Leica instructions for return, this will speed things up. Â Be sure to tell Leica the issue with a note, perhaps photographs or SD card with photos. Leica will contact you via email with the repair quote. Your Q will come back working like new. Â Now is a good time for such a repair due to the excellent US/Euro exchange rate. Â Last, this is the best and fastest way to get your Q serviced based on my 40+ years of Leica experience. stuny Posted October 21, 2022 Share #7 Â Posted October 21, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) The move of Leica NJ facilities did indeed stop things for about three months, but they are up and running well now.
Farrell Gallery Posted October 23, 2022 Share #8  Posted October 23, 2022 I've heard (from a source that is usually reliable) they only repair M series stateside and all others go to Germany.
