I guess this means there won't be a SL Monochrom?

Next SL is the SL3 and there will not be an SL2 Monochrom – per former forum member Steven via IG conversation a few months ago.

Doing everything they can to get rid of bodies before the inevitable SL3. They've been pushing the SL system SO HARD in social media ads, posts etc recently. Honestly, what use is this body with a less durable wrap and a different color metal? I'm not sure SL users are as susceptible to this kind of variant mania that M users are.

Now an SL2 Monochrom, that's different - PLEASE TAKE MY MONEY!!!!! 😀

Gotta clear out"last season's fashions" before the next Golden Child is born.

As for a possible SL2 Monochrom, that wold cause a kerfuffle.  It is likely a no-go, as it would cannibalize sales from the coming M11.  As for me, I can't help it, I'd rather have an M11 Monochrom.

Damn me, I'm just a fool in love. 😁

I like the greenish color.

but seeing the Kevlar fabric after some use on the m10-p and q2 reporters and on their edges in particular gives me pause on wanting one.
I think replacing it with leather looks pretty good though.  It’s a pass for me until SL3.

The green looks good enough that I’d be willing to do that cladding swap with leather if I ever needed to.

If the SL3 does get the M11 sensor, the SL2-S may end up being a good companion to the SL3 for ultra high ISO and/or video work. I also prefer the color from the SL2-S over the M11, but they are much more alike than the either is to the SL2.

Some of us were just born suckers for the green variants. I did own an R3 Safari back in the 90s, and I’m certain it took better film shots than the regular R3 😂

I just got my M11 so I haven’t done any “proper” testing, but there doesn’t seem to be much between the SL2-s and M11 in terms of high ISO performance. In fact I think if you down res to 24MP the M11 might even be a hair better.

If the SL3 manages to match the video performance of the SL2-s and uses the same battery as the M11 then I will be upgrading for sure. Really curious to see what they do with the Q3 and SL3 batteries… my hopes of having a unified battery across all bodies was dashed when the M11 didn’t use the SL/Q2 battery. I can only hope the standardize on the M11 battery moving forward!

M11 battery wouldn't make sense on the SL3 since that overhanging plastic base piece would serve no purpose since the memory cards are on the side of the camera. More likely they will add additional capacity to the current battery.

Thanks for bringing that thread up! Very useful test and confirms my general feelings. Regarding the overhanging base piece, what makes you think the SL3 will also have the memory cards on the side? 🙂 (I agree with you, I'm just playing devil's advocate... I can't imagine they would eschew the "professional" norm of having dual card slots and move to the M11 model of internal storage coupled with a card in the battery chamber).
