Yes it looks like a loquat tree I think, but I’m not sure it would be fruiting now in cooler climate?

Loquats are essentially “Japanese medlars” which are  a form of hawthorn AFAIK but don’t have the “crown” at the end of the fruit - but they’re not really medlars.
 

I don’t know whether the fruit is edible (or requires “bletting” a fabulously medieval term for their rotting/ripening). Our neighbours in a previous Cotswold village had lots of “true”medlar trees and used to leave the glut of fruit out on their front wall for people to take away to blet.
