semrich Posted August 16, 2006 Author Share #5 Posted August 16, 2006 Victor, A big discovery today with this post, I took a more gentle approach with the curves and it looked better than usual, then when I looked at it after posting it was darker. vic vic Posted August 16, 2006 Share #6 Posted August 16, 2006 richard - i will be off today, so a quick reply... this is all about color spaces. the best thing i can advice a tthe moment is that when u finish processing u can do save for web, but u really need some color management in photoshop. read about it - there should very nice explanation in photoshop help. i will help u more later on. at the moment - make sure the photos are converted for gamma 2.2 if u use in your mac gamma 1.8 (the native one for macs). u can do it with image ready application very well ("convert from mac->windows function). also, photoshop may embed profile to your file or use the embeded one from the camera import. i suggest that u will change it to sRGB.icc . this is the best and the most secure for the web. although for high quality work it is limited. best is to use apple rgb, or adobe 1998 rgb, or ProPhoto. u can do it even with the "priview" aplication. just open all the images for web uplaod in preview then go to "tools" then go to "match profile". here u can shoud choose sRGB.icc. then make sure u save the changes u have made. see if this helps. just remember that safari reads the color space acuratly while internet explorer for windows is blind to it, it works ok with the sRGB. safari can work with all of them. another issue might be that u dont resize your photos properly - it demages the density and the impression of luminosity. do u make the resize in photoshop??? it should give a very good results - strange. another software that gives good results is i-photo and i-web. aperture is also very accurate of course.
