Two lens/ It had to happen

When doing documentary work (especially in low-light settings):

35 summicron V.4 and the 75 lux. I think the fingerprint from the lenses is pretty consistent.

If I were traveling light, I'd swap out the 75 lux for a 90 elmar C.

(In truth, I find it difficult not to include the CV15 in any kit, but that would be cheating)

I'm trying to come up with a collective answer, Guy ... perhaps some will come up with the thread entitled ... 3 lenses combo what should I do? :D

So for me ...

One lens choice: 90AA

Two Lenses: + 50 cron

Three lenses: + 35 cron

That's all, I don't care about anything below 35mm ... actually, you can ask your friend in Leica ... which is the most popular focal length they've ever sold. I bet it's the 50mm ... and perhaps 35mm. :)

The reality is I would probably bring the Tri-Elmar and a 75 Summicron on a trip.

But if the question is, if you could ONLY HAVE two lenses, then the two I would choose would be 24 f/2.8 and the 50 'lux.

I previously said the 35 Asph 'lux if I could only have one. When we get to the "What 3 lenses" thread, I'll have a completely different response ;-)

This one's easy for me -- the same two lenses I'm using for 90% of my M8 shooting right now: the 28 (Cron or Pre-asph Elmarit) and 50 Pre-asph Lux.

Actually that pair is so sweet I am tempted to sell every other frigging M lens I own. (Well okay, I prolly keep the 15 CV and 90 Cron to cover the outside ends :D )

Jack, I have similar thoughts (with ASPH variations), but the 15-28 gap is huge, and 35 is my favorite focal length on the M8, so I am stuck! :)

It would be interesting to know what one/two/three/four lenses people would keep for a FF M9...

Then I might keep WATE, 28 Cron, 35 Lux ASPH, 50 Lux ASPH, 75 Lux or 90 Cron or 90 Cron ASPH... Okay, that was 5 :) I might have to get rid of the 28 Cron then...

For me it is the 35 'cron and the 50 'cron on my MP / M7 and a 28 'cron and 50 ' cron on my M8. I look back at many of the shots that I have made that transcend the moment and find that they were made with my 50 ' cron ... ( have not had the M8 long enough to do some serious shooting with it ) ... so maybe it is possible to squeeze it down to just one lens!

Yeah, I know Carsten, me too! LOLOL! In fact, after our "which 35" thread a while back, I have tried three and settled on a 4th version Pre-Cron now and sold off the pre-Lux and Cron Asph! If I head out with one lens, it is that 35. But when if I could own only two, I think it would be the 28 and 50. What's weird is I think it would be the same with full-frame since they were my favorites with film M's back in the day...

I can live with one, but not always the same one. The same thing goes for two (in a coat pocket). If I want small, inconspicuous, it's the 28/2.8 asph plus a 35/2.0 asph. or 15CV plus 28/2.8. If I want to look at detail plus setting, it would be the 24/2.8 asph plus 75/2.0 APO/asph. Since any four of these fit into my little canvas bag, that's what usually comes along. Although some really old lenses do sometimes sneak into a pocket (Canon 28/2.0, Summicron 50/2.0-collapsible). Funny thing is that once any one of these gets on the camera, it tends to stay there most of the day and teaches me to see things its way.

28/1.9 & 50/1.5.

Oh, oh . . . non-Leica but I find myself reaching for these repeatedly when I need to travel light.

Make it THREE however and I instantly return to the fold: 21/2.8, 35/2.0 and 75/2.0. (One pre-Asph Elmarit and two splendid, newish 'Crons.)

(Someone donate a new 28mm 'Cron plus new 50mm 'Lux and I promise to be good hereafter.)
