Advice on Color Space

I recently changed my working color space from Adobe RGB to ProPhoto RGB based on someone's post here extolling its benefits. I work on a Mac with PS/CS and convert from Raw with either C-1LE or Raw Developer. The color looks great on my monitor. Prints look true to the monitor. But now I notice that when I view Leica Forum on a Windows machine (non-calibrated monitor, like at work or internet cafe) my posts have a greenish-yellow hue. Same posts look fine on any Mac, even a laptop. Any ideas what's going on?

Thanks,

Henry

Make sure you CONVERT (not Assign) your file to the sRGB colorspace before you save it as a jpeg for web posting. Most browsers don't know what to do with colorspaces other than sRGB. If you're already doing that, then it just may be that other monitors that you were looking at were not calibrated.

Yes, internet explorer is not colour aware, just like firefox. AFIK safari is about the only colour aware web browser.

But in saying all that, sRGB should be the colour space used for web output, PhotoRGB is a wider space for post processing and for output to suitable printers.

Safari is the only Web browset that will correctly display non-sRGB images - all other browsers assume "system space", which usually means sRGB. So if you try to display a Adobe RGB image in them, reds desaturate, and you get a yellow/green image.......

Well that explains everything!

Thanks very much for your input. Great to have such knowledgable help so readily available.
