dougdarter Posted September 19, 2007 Share #1 Posted September 19, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, Just thought youd like to see how sharp a newly cleaned Summarit can be. I might add that these are RAW conversions, straight from the camera, with no sharpening or maniulation whatsoever: This one is a 1:1 close up, which nicely demonstrates sharpness at full size: This one is 2:1, and shows the performance of the lens in high contrast situation: This is 3:1, and I feel it compares very well with a more modern 'cron. Advertisement Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 Hi dougdarter, Take a look here Summarit 50mm f1.5 on M8.. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
rebride Posted September 19, 2007 Share #2 Posted September 19, 2007 Looks impressive. What was the aperture? I was offerred one Summarit 1.5, not cleaned and with some fungus (?) inside. At f1.5 it was loose. Only at f4.0 it would remind of its true abilities. Dejan
M6J Posted September 19, 2007 Share #3 Posted September 19, 2007 Always nice to see an old beauty like this in work. Yes, if you give them a nice cleaning, these oldies are ready to give great pictures even in the digital era!
jaapv Posted September 19, 2007 Share #4 Posted September 19, 2007 Doug, try it for portraits. Or pub shots. And this lens really benefits from a 486 filter. I really like mine and use it regularly. But beware of the bokeh. It can get very distinctive and nervous.

These were shot at f2.5. I had some at 1.5, but they were a wee bit soft, but still useable.
