Guest tummydoc Posted September 19, 2007 Share #21 Posted September 19, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) The M8's already thicker than an M7, then add a large hand-grip in front and a large thumb grip in back...so much for "small, compact, light-weight" I think I'll keep my M8 au-naturel. When I want a bloated blob I always have my D200 As for the logo, I don't understand why he can't use the Leica script and Leica Camera AG, after all, it's not like the Chinese are the least bit concerned with patent and copyright infringement

dougdarter Posted September 19, 2007 Share #22 Posted September 19, 2007 Hi, Mine was quoted at $96.04 A lot of money, but not when you consider it's only around 30 cents a day over a year, then it becomes free!!
M6J Posted September 19, 2007 Share #23 Posted September 19, 2007 Great idea, great execution, great final product, absolutely remove the Logo! I quite like it, but I actually didn't ever have a problem holding any Leica M in my hands steadily and comfortably, with or without any grip. So I don't think I will buy it, but still a great product from Tim! Well done!
charlesphoto99 Posted September 19, 2007 Share #24 Posted September 19, 2007 Just wish you could still use a flash with it. But the idea is great Well you could if Leica had've given the M8 a pc outlet like every other freaking (pro) camera in the world!
carstenw Posted September 19, 2007 Share #25 Posted September 19, 2007 Well you could if Leica had've given the M8 a pc outlet like every other freaking (pro) camera in the world! ...including the M7 and down... they dropped the ball here, agreed. barjohn Posted September 19, 2007 Share #26 Posted September 19, 2007 I just got back in town and found my Thumbs Up Model 3 waiting for me. It is a tight fit but boy does it improve the camera grip with and without the M8 hand grip installed. It gives you two points of leverage without having to apply as much pressure and seems to help me keep my finger out of the small window when holding with the M8 grip. Very nicely finished and clearly high quality. The packaging is also first class and very clever.

norm_snyder Posted September 21, 2007 Share #29 Posted September 21, 2007 My model 1 arrived yesterday, and I had a chance to use it on a shoot tonight. Perfect for my needs. It falls precisely where the film advance lever does with my grip on an M4-M6! [i'm left-eyed]. Great finish [i don't mind the Logo at all], terrific packaging! I suspect that it would work well on a film-M with T-A rapidwinder, and will try that this weekend. It should allow excellent balance. Bravo, Tim!
