DavidJohn Posted September 27, 2022 Share #1 Posted September 27, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) Anybody know what the macro ratio is on the Q2? I know how close I can get, but can't figure out if it's 1:3, 1:4, 1:5, or... In any case, it certainly works well, and is so easy to use. Would the Elpro 52 bring the ratio to 1:1? Thanks. Magnification in macro mode at 17cm should be 0.26 or 1:3.8. Not sure how much the Elpro 52 would increase the magnification, but keep in mind that 17cm is measured from the subject to the sensor plane, so the subject is already pretty close to the lens at that distance. Thanks! 1:3.8 sounds about right.

It's a marketing term that means "this lens focuses closer than most other lenses in its focal length". There's no other single word for "macro" in English that could be a substitute and still be widely understood for meaning. Most macro lenses that specialize in high magnification shooting will be 1:1, but some are only 1:2.
