Lens Ergonomics

Which lens/M body combo feels the most comfortable to use? I have several lenses but have always felt the 50 Lux pre asph on an M7 or MP feels the most comfortable. The short focus throw, barrel thickness and focus ring instead of tab somehow works together to make the whole package really well balanced. We have heard loads about glass performance and sharpness, but for me ease of use and instinctive ergonomics have just as important a role to play in rating a lens.

I suspect it is different for others and would be interested to read about it.

Seb.

Reality check! The important factor is to 'get the image'. NOT is it comfortable. I will go so far as to say, "if it is comfortable, you are not trying hard enough!"

Any snapshooter can take 'comfortable pictures', but to go the extra distance of snaring an outstanding image nearly alway demands getting outside your comfort zone.

Learn to suffer! It is more rewarding.;)

Cheers,

Erl

Nah! The best camera should 'disappear' in your hands, which is what I suspect is meant here.

I personally prefer the M3 for the higher magnification and its beautiful smoothness. I've only got two lenses, so either the pre-asph 35mm or 50mm Summiluxes.

Seb,

I LIKE tabs. Most do, BTW. My choices, 50/1.4 ASPH on my M5 or 35/2 LHSA ASPH on my MP .58. Of course, the 28/2 on the M7 often gets the best exposures.:)

Erl,

Least distraction, best view = best pictures. Otherwise, who needs a Leica? I believe that's what Seb is saying.

I guess some of the "fit" of a body/lens combo depends on glove-size....

For someone with smaller hands, speaking from experience on this, I'd have to give the nod to what William says about a 35f2ASPH on an MP being the "bees knees".

And, "Tabs" are definately a good thing!

:)

Thanks.

Allan
