William Noel Posted September 18, 2007 Share #1 Posted September 18, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, I'm an enthusiast and am using SLR eversince I started photography for around 10yrs now. I just even bought a digilux3 that leads me to join this web site. I have an old friend who is also a hobbiest and is selling his M4 body with 50mm f/1.4 summilux, 90mm f/2 summicron and 135mm f/4 tele Elmar w/ long focusing mount. He is selling it for around $3,500.00. I have not seen these gears yet since I live far from him now and we just communicated thru phone. I know this guy is careful with his equipment. Assuming these gears are in good condition, is it worth the price? Any suggestions or advice will be very much appreciated. Thanks.

Angora Posted September 18, 2007 Share #2 Posted September 18, 2007 I'm an R-ist, but do know that there are a lot of generations for every kind of lens ; prices vary accordingly. You should get more infos about that stuff (generations or serial numbers if your friend has no clue about the gen.).

Photoskeptic Posted September 18, 2007 Share #4 Posted September 18, 2007 They would have to be in excellent condition for this price. Using my Leica experience with used equipment I'd say he was optimistically high.
earleygallery Posted September 18, 2007 Share #5 Posted September 18, 2007 I suggest that you look at dealers s/h prices and sold items on e bay. Price seems on the high side to me, but condition is all - if they were all mint/boxed then it's a bargain!

William Noel Posted September 19, 2007 Author Share #7 Posted September 19, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thank you everyone Based on all of your comments, I was able to get a grip on its value and feels that the price is on the high side but maybe fair enough if the condition of the gears are on its best. I would certainly have to check them first thoroughly before having any negotiation. Again, I really appreciate with all your inputs. All the best...william
