Thanks Sean yes was a preset WB but i could have chosen tungsten as well with no big difference given that i shot raw no? I used to follow your advice in my youth when i was not so lazzy, now i use iCorrect with not so bad results so far. Perhaps it come from this? I doubt, i doubt my friend but again i'm at the beginnig of the learning curve with this little lens so i'd better go out and take some photographs. Cheers.

It depends on how you're setting white balance when you convert. Sampling the white balance from a neutral gray area in the subject, when you are doing the conversions from RAW, will tend to yield fairly consistent color from lens to lens. Ideally, one samples from a reference card, such as a WhiBal, but sometimes that's not practical.

Here are three shots with the 21 CV (not coded):

1: with a IR/UV cut filter (B+W)

2: without filter

3: the 1 corrected with Cornerfix

My conclusion: never use the filter for this kind of pictures.

Settings the parameters on M8 doesn't change anything.

 

This lens is very good and not only for landscapes.

One thing to add: no problem for night pictures with this lens without filter.

Not my little experience so far. I sample the same way with all my lenses (black, white, neutral gray) and i don't get the same color rendition. Next time i'll try with a Leica UV/IR filter. I'm almost sure that the differences will disappear then, which could prove that the CV 'catches' more IRs so to speak than its Leica counterparts. Now i would be quite happy to be wrong as i don't like the oversaturated greens caused by those filters in grass and foliage, to say the least.

I don't think the CV lenses "catch" any more IR. Some of them just run a little warm, which is different from IR-sensitivity. Certainly try the filters with both kinds of lenses and try processing the files in C1, as well (unless you already are).

I do not use an IR cut filter and have had no problems with this lens, but I mainly shoot landscapes with it.
