Guest Posted September 20, 2022 Share #1 Posted September 20, 2022 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I thought I was very fortunate to find a Leitz 543 195 extension tube. As most of you know, this is a 41mm M-mount extension tube that can be used to replace a Visoflex. I was going to use it to create enough distance between Leica CL with M-adapter L and bellows II to use the CL in vertical direction. It does create sufficient distance: Welcome, dear visitor! However, to my surprise the camera is severely misaligned when using this extension tube: This is extremely annoying. I did not expect this because I have seen this adapter used in this forum for exactly the same purpose (@msh58, Matti, aren't you using this adapter in the same way?). Is there anything I am doing wrong here? Or is there so much production variation that the adapter works for some and does not work for others? Somehow I can't believe this. I wonder if the screws at the camera side of the adapter could be used to realign the camera. Does anyone know? I need to find a fitting screw driver and give it a try. a.noctilux Posted September 20, 2022 Share #2 Posted September 20, 2022 Lucky you. I think those screws are there for adjustment purpose, like on my one BEOON ring. A bit tricky to adjust, beoon ring in FF sensor the centering can be difficult, but with APS-C sensor, adjusting must be easier. Watch tools are the best fit, not to mare the screws. luigi bertolotti Posted September 20, 2022 Share #3 Posted September 20, 2022 Hmm... Before to act, I think would be better to find who is the culprit.. You have 3 M bayonet components (the L to M adapter, the tube, the bellows) : probably is ONE of them to cause the misalignment.. which one? The bellows has the 90° rotation facility... Is it possible to work on it? (just an idea.. I am not at home and cannot check my bellows II)

I have no such problems if I use an OUFRO between bellows II and L-to-M adapter. I also have no problem if I attach a Novoflex bellows unit (which does not need a spacer) directly to the L-to-M adapter. Thus, it looks like the 543195 tube is causing the alignment problem. I can align the camera using the bellows rotation but this is not a sturdy solution.
msh58 Posted September 21, 2022 Share #5 Posted September 21, 2022 Hi, My adapter is well aligned. As shown in the picture, the locking pin on the bellows side should be at the same position as the locking slot on the camera side. Loosening the screws a little bit and rotating the camera attachment is needed if this is not the case. I hope this helps. Best, Matti Welcome, dear visitor! I have a LEM/VIS Novoflex tube which (iirc) is practically the same tube... and it alignes perfectly. I indeed can see a slight misalignment between locking pin and locking slot on my extension tube. I ordered a fitting screwdriver.

Yes, I was searching for a while for the original (one piece) LEM/VIS, which you have, and the 543195. The latter just showed up first (it was not well described, so I must have overlooked it for a while).

I bought a watch tool 1.8mm screwdriver from AF Switzerland, which worked very well for this job. The 543 195 is now perfectly aligned.
