Thatch2021 Posted September 18, 2022 Share #1 Posted September 18, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello I am new to Leica Q2 but want to say, "Wow!" what an amazing camera! The sharpness of this lens far exceeds anything I have seen in other brands. I am sure everyone here is yawning at this comment but I had doubts till yesterday that this camera was just an ordinary camera; I am blown away by what I am seeing. Anyway, my question is I use Capture One Pro 2022 to edit DNG files. I noticed in Lens Profile the selection says Manufacturer Profile. When I look at the profile list, Leica Q2 Summilux 28mm specifically is not listed. So what does Capture One Pro select for the lens profile? I'm confused. Also, I have watched videos on YouTube (How to add Sharpening in Capture One Pro by Kasia Zmokla) where she says Capture One Pro adds sharpening based on your camera lens. But when I look at my Lens Correction screen in Capture One, the Profile only says Manufacturer Profile. But I don't see what it is using for a profile. Also, when you reply, could you tell me what editing software you use for your Leica Q2 files? I used to use Lightroom but moved away from it when I purchased FujiFilm cameras. Thanks for sharing your wisdom! LuAnn
Advertisement Posted September 18, 2022 Posted September 18, 2022 Hi Thatch2021, Take a look here Leica Q2 - Lens Correction Profile in Capture One Pro 22. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Ba Erv Posted September 18, 2022 Share #2 Posted September 18, 2022 The lens corrections are baked in to the DNG file by the camera. Capture One uses what's already incorporated into the file. You can see the distortion correction by clicking on the crop tool and a greyed area will appear on the outside of the brackets in the frame. This area is the uncorrected portion of the actual photo. If you then click on the hand tool you'll see the corrected file cropped to the eliminate the distortion. There's no need to select a lens profile since the "Manufacturer Profile" accomplishes it for you. I believe that Capture One is adding a little sharpness back into the photo with a default amount of 180 to compensate for the resolution loss due to the in-camera interpolation. Personally, I will increase the Radius to 1 and drop the Threshold to 0 for a little punch sometimes too.
