Advertisement Posted November 24, 2022 Posted November 24, 2022 Hi LUF Admin, Take a look here How dangerous is it to update firmware on M10 ?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
IkarusJohn Posted November 25, 2022 Share #62 Posted November 25, 2022 So, that was boring. Any one actually have a comment on the latest M10 firmware update? I have it, but haven’t got round to installing it.
erl Posted November 25, 2022 Share #63 Posted November 25, 2022 Yep! I installed it. No problems. I have lost count of how many firmware updates I have installed on multiple cameras since the advent of the M8. I had one problem (not with the camera) when i I did NOT follow EXACTLY the instructions. I'm a bloke. We don't read directions. 😁 In the case of firmware instructions, you MUST read and follow them. Then there is NO problem. Keeping your technology up to date is a good and wise thing.

It might be overkill but I haven't had any issues. That's what they tell you to do. And ensure battery is at least 80%.
Nachtmsk Posted December 2, 2022 Author Share #65 Posted December 2, 2022 OP here... Wow, I had no idea this post generated this much discussion. Thanks to everyone, it was very interesting (and entertaining) to read the posts. In the end I decided not to upgrade at this point and I'll tell you why.. I have been a computer programmer for about 20 years. During that time I updated my share of Windows/Unix servers and desktop (PC/Mac/Linux) machines. In most cases the updates went well. BUT, when they didn't go well it was a major pain in the ass. I've also had my own share of updating MY OWN software with similar results. Developers can anticipate many things, but not all. One thing I tell all my friends regarding their PC's, never keep auto-update on and never install updates when they first come out - unless it's a security update. Yeah, I think I will wait to update the firmware until either there is an update I need and I know I won't need the camera for a while in case it gets bricked (though I realize that is very unlikely) . My son updated his Nikon firmware a few hours before a job he had to shoot(The camera was running fine before and thankfully after the update) but, man-oh-man; right before a job?! The optimism of youth is a beautiful thing. Thanks again, Mike Oh yeah, one more thing - should I update the firmware on my M6? I haven't since I bought it 20 years ago..It's working fine.. 🤣
