Ciroisa Posted August 28, 2022 Share #1  Posted August 28, 2022 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi everyone, I recently bought an M4-P, it looks like the camera has never been used and the first test films I shot in bright sunlight show these overexposed light streaks on the right side of each frame. Furthermore, I checked the Camera by placing it against the Light and I noticed that on 1/500 times the second curtain does not go all the way back, leaving a space of half a millimeter on the right side looking forward at the shutter. This defect does it on almost tt the frames and are the times I used when I shot in full sun. Could this be the problem? Why do I notice the white stripes on the right side of the photo? Thanks in advance and I hope for your help. I am Italian, I write with the translator and I hope you understand my writing.Ciro Isaia Welcome, dear visitor! jaapv Posted August 28, 2022 Share #2 Â Posted August 28, 2022 Yes, the camera needs maintenance as the shutter curtain sticks. There are probably other parts that need to be cleaned, lubricated and adjusted as well. Bring it to a reputable workshop.
Ciroisa Posted August 28, 2022 Author Share #3 Â Posted August 28, 2022 (edited) @jaapv _thanks for answering me; Â it definitely needs maintenance, the camera is in excellent condition but the problem is that it took a few shots. Â What I wanted to understand is normal that the light leaks are to the right of the frame when the curtain doesn't close well on the right side of the shutter forward? jaapv Posted August 28, 2022 Share #4 Â Posted August 28, 2022 It is rather unpredictable as the shutter is sure not to run smoothly either.
Ciroisa Posted August 28, 2022 Author Share #5 Â Posted August 28, 2022 @jaapvYes, the shutter certainly needs maintenance; Â the curtain has little strength. @mike mike88 Thanks for the advice, but for I know that the problem is due to the entry of light into the shutter due to the second curtain not closing completely on the fast shutter speeds, I think it reflects there somewhere when the light enters the right and with the dragging is brought to the forward frame finding the overexposed photos on the right side. Â If you look closely at the photos I posted it seems to be the cause

Ciroisa Posted August 28, 2022 Author Share #7  Posted August 28, 2022 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Thank you for the clarification @250swb;  so in this case the light leaks that appear on the right of the frame like the photos I posted depend with certainty on the second curtain that does not close well as shown here in the photo right?
